    GIS for sustainable development of territories

          The purpose of a seminar is to provide an exchange of knowledge and experience.
    Topics of the seminar:
          1. Municipal GIS: Technology of creation in an electronic kind of the general plan of cities schemes.
          2. GIS for risk management in extreme situations of natural and technogenic character: GIS for the territorial monitoring centers. Application of geoinformation technology at an estimation and management of socially - hygienic conditions (on an example of Sverdlovsk area).

    Generalization of geographical maps

          The seminar «Generalization of geographical maps» is open free of charge for all ICC 2007 conference participants.
          The purpose of a seminar is to enable all seminar participants to deliver a message on their current theoretical and practical research in the field of the automated generalization of geographical maps, to exchange opinions and experience in these works performance, to develop cooperation in the field of geographical maps generalization.

    Some selected topics of the seminar:
          - The basic requirements to initial digital materials of base scale;
          - A preparation work before automatic generalization;
          - A degree of generalization automation;
          - Adjustment of generalization parameters;
          - An interactive mode of generalization;
          - The alternative approach to generalization;
          - Prospects of development of generalization.

    Creation of the National Atlas of Russia and other thematic fundamental cartographic works

          The seminar «Creation of the National Atlas of Russia and other thematic fundamental cartographical products» is open free of charge for all colleagues with cartographical and not cartographical traditions.
          The purpose of a seminar is to inform participants on features of scientifically-organizational, conceptual, editorial, design work at creation of the National Atlas of Russia; the attention is paid to technology of the National Atlas of Russia creation and to introduction of the space information in this cartographical product. Also questions of creation of other thematic fundamental cartographical products are examined.

          4. Jury Komosov (PKO "Cartographya"). Technology of the National Atlas of Russia polygraphic and electronic versions creation;
          5. Gleb Udintsev (Intergovernmental oceanographic commission),Dina Zhiv (PKO "Cartographya"). International geological-geophysical atlases of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans;
          6.     Generalisation and Multiple Representation: Tutorial

          The tutorial  "Generalisation and Multiple Representation" is open to all colleagues with cartographic and non cartographic traditions. The Tutorial will provide an all day course on generalisation and multiple representation given by international experts in this field (Dirk Burghardt; Julien Gaffuri; William Mackaness, Liqiu Meng; Moritz Neun; Anne Ruas; Monika Sester, Christelle Vangenot).
          Generalisation is all about representing the geography of the world at multiple levels of detail. Many organisations are interested in the efficient storage and update of their map data. This intensive tutorial will provide an overview of theoretical and technical developments in the field. We encourage anyone with an interest in this topic, but who want to learn more, to attend this tutorial.

    Who should attend:
          This course is designed for experienced ESRI® ArcGIS software users who want to produce high-quality map products. Attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own maps for use in the map critique exercises

    Prerequisites:
          Attendees should have completed either of the following courses: Introduction to ArcGIS I or Learning ArcGIS Desktop, or have equivalent knowledge of ArcGIS

    Available seats:
          This course is limited to 16 persons. Attendees of the ICC 2007 Conference who would like to attend the course will be given priority if they make reservations between now and the last day of May 2007. On 1 June 2007, the remaining seats will be available to both ICC 2007 Conference attendees and other ESRI users on a first come, first served basis. The final registration deadline for all is 15 July 2007. Please plan on applying to attend this course early.

    Modeling of the Spatial Data Infrastructure
